H Σύλβια και ο Γιώργος έχουν ετοιμάσει ένα ανεξάρτητο μικρό σπιτάκι (bungalow) και ένα studio σε οικογενειακό περιβάλλον, που μπορούν να φιλοξενήσουν μέχρι 3 άτομα το καθένα. Τόσο το σπιτάκι (45 τμ) όσο και το studio (35 τμ) είναι εξοπλισμένα με κουζίνα, ψυγείο, αυτόνομο θερμοσίφωνα, aircondition, internet και όλα τα σχετικά. Και τα δύο διαθέτουν εκτός των άλλων δικό τους μπαλκόνι-βεράντα. Η τοποθεσία αυτών βρίσκεται σε ένα κτήμα 1000τμ με πεύκα στη γύρω περιοχή, με πολλές αυλές που παρέχουν μια άνεση χώρου τόσο για στιγμές χαλάρωσης όσο και διασκέδασης.

Welcome to our charming little house situated on the island of Thassos, otherwise known as the emerald jewel of the Greek islands. One of the things you’re going to love about this brochure is that it focuses entirely on your needs as a traveller.

Has it ever occurred to you that holidays in the sun should be about more than just toasting yourself on a hot beach and dancing the night away?

Holidays are also about finding peace in a stress free environment, aren’t they?

What if you could combine a vibrant nightlife with the simple beauty of nature at it’s finest? Relax in an authentic setting removed from common tourist trappings, and still be just a five-minute walk from the beach and bars?

This may not be relevant to you, but staying in a cute, intimate bungalow set against a backdrop of forest and mountain, just a five- minute walk from the beach could be just what the doctor ordered.

Imagine how good you’ll feel enjoying a nightcap on your private garden patio. As you read this, you may begin to get the feel for the sultry night sky and velvety air. The sound of the crickets. The comfort of feeling at ease in a real home away from home.

Just how much tranquility can you stand? I wouldn’t advise you to book a holiday with us until you feel comfortable with the idea of indulging in a little bit of heaven.

PRACTICAL DETAILS

The forty square metre bungalow with patio and garden is fully equipped with kitchen facilities, and a bathroom with both shower and bath, which is practical for children. We also have air conditioning and free internet. There is a sizeable garden extending from the patio.

There is another similarly sized studio behind the bungalows, newly built. This would be good for groups or couples travelling together.

The setting is idyllically romantic and rustic, located within the authentic heart of the local village community. It offers both respite and cultural interest to the visitor, whilst just a stone’s throw away from the lively waterfront of Potos.

There are wonderful back roads through the forests just behind the bungalows, guaranteed to evoke the senses. No matter what walk of life you are from, the naked simplicity of the area will speak to you.

THE VILLAGE

Potos is an island village that has retained a remarkable local ambience, despite the influx of moderate tourism. Whilst it caters to visitors’ needs, the local people are authentic enough not to exaggerate the role of tourism. In that sense, you are more likely to be treated as a genuine visitor rather than a stray foreigner who lost his tour guide.

The beaches around Potos are perfectly exquisite, which is handy if you have children or are not inclined to explore other parts of the island.

As for practical services and facilities, Potos village has everything you need apart from post office and bank, which you will find in the nearest village, Limenaria (three kilometres away).

The adventurous tourist will see Potos as the perfect base to explore well beyond its local perimeters and experience by day the whole island of Thassos. By night, Potos is on your heavenly doorstep with beach front restaurants and bars to happily see you through to the early hours

FAMILIES AND CHILDREN

Are you letting your babies and small children hold you back from travelling? Afraid of the unknown ? You can relax in the knowledge that the little house in Potos is particularly baby friendly.

Cots are supplied for babies. Even if you have twins there are two cots available. Also a baby highchair to make mealtimes easier. If you hire a car, you can borrow baby seats. The hostess has experienced camping with four month old twins, so really, you are in safe hands, with regard to practicalities.

There is also a large garden, fully enclosed, so your baby can run around unhampered in a wonderfully safe environment. As for travel with babies, if you can arrange to fly by night, most babies will sleep all the way.

The hostess who has four children of her own, including twins and a two year old, can offer all kinds of support for your children in a new environment. Even babysitting is not ruled out as we boast a spacious, safe playroom in the larger house behind the cottage.

Are you beginning to see the advantages of staying with a warm, welcoming Greek/Irish host family, with bilingual children who can communicate easily with English speaking visitors?

SPECIAL BENEFITS

As a traveller you want to be adventurous and get the most out of your holiday. The truth is that usually the best beauty spots are unknown to visitors or are inaccessible.

The host is willing to arrange excursions to the mountains on request. He also owns a boat and could do day trips around the island to the best beaches, which are inaccessible by foot.

Last but not least, he is an accomplished fisherman and amateur chef. Whilst we don’t run a restaurant, an impromptu meal of fresh fish and traditional Greek cuisine for our guests is not out of the question.

THE ISLAND

Thassos is an unspoilt and relatively undiscovered gem in the north of Greece. It is very close to the mainland and Kavala airport.

A nature lover’s paradise, it boasts wonderful, clean beaches and stunning scenery.

Before you even step off the ferry, you begin to sense a unique atmosphere of surreal calm.
